Truly these eggs are amazing! You know you are eating nutrient-rich eggs when the yolk is as orange as a Crayola crayon.

Our heritage breed Buckeye hens are pasture raised and completely free to roam. Their diet of forage, bugs and grubs is supplemented with heirloom organic grains grown and ground at the Kleins’ farm in nearby Carey, Ohio. Eggs are currently available at The Wellspring Store in downtown Findlay.
Buckeye chickens were developed in the late 19th century by Nettie Metcalf of Warren, Ohio. They are the only standard breed of chicken known to have been created by a woman. They are a dual-purpose breed (great for egg laying and meat production) and they do really well in the cold Ohio winters. They are on the Livestock Conservancy’s “watch” list, and on Slow Food USA’s Ark of Taste. The males have a range of sounds beyond those of typical chicken breeds, including a dinosaur-like roar!
